Internet Policy Expert Named as Latin American Representative

I’m proud to announce that Rodrigo de la Parra, the Director General of Prospective Regulation of Mexico’s Federal Commission of Telecommunications (Cofetel), will join ICANN as our new representative to the Latin American region.

Rodrigo is already well versed in ICANN’s multi-stakeholder model, having served as the Mexican representative to the Governmental Advisory Committee.

He has been an active participant in international organizations such as the Latin America Regulation Agencies Forum (REGULATEL), the Inter-American Telecommunications Commission (OAS-CITEL), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Rodrigo has a Masters Degree in Political Economy and international affairs and lecturer of International Organizations and Economic Negotiations and Consultant to the Latin American Cooperation for Advanced Networks (CLARA).

He begins his new position with ICANN on January 10, 2011.
